Sooo...long story short, a guy cut off another guy, who got scared and hit me. His front bumper, and my pass. rear door and quarter panel.

His insurance accepted liability for it, so it will be getting fixed very soon. I got an estimate from my insurance company (id have to pay my deductible), which totaled 1200 worth of damages. They would repair & paint the door, quarter panel which goes to the roof sort of, the roof rail would maybe get painted, the lower rocker trim which would get fixed and repainted, also i claimed the tire because its been leaking air forever.

damages arent too bad, but this seems to work out in my favor with getting some **** repaired i always wanted.

Tomorrow, the other guys insuance will be giving me an estimate..then fixed and a rental. (first estimate totaled 19 hours of repair)
 


on my accident, i went to a body repair shop and got a quote of 2700 on my door.. my private guy....450
it pays to look around.
 
glad it wasn't any worse. i saw your name up here and got pretty scared. glad youre ok and it wasn't more serious
 


Were getting about 8 inches of snow now. I'll be getting the other estimate some other day.

I'll try to look around for shops. My mom reccomended a good shop, I might be going that route.
 
If someone ever hits the side of my car like that... Im turing into them and making it worse for both of us.. lol I hate dents/scratches... Id rather have the car totaled :P
 


atleast your getting it payed for... Back with the bonnie someone backed into my car (while at a hospital) and drove off.. let a ton of paint and one hell of a dent... 3 weeks later she died (the car not the person who hit me)
 
Doesn't seem too bad, but $1200 ouch, wish I knew how to paint seems like lots of money can be made in that field... at least you can get the stuff you wanted repaired done at the other guys cost.....I'm hoping for somebody to just gently slide into me this winter on my passenger side so I can get that side repainted, car got keyed the night before I bought it.
 
The only piece I would have repaired would be the rear quarter. I would get a new door/skin, bumper and fender out of the deal. There are 6 million Grand Prixs out there with that color. I would find those parts in that color and replace them myself and take it to the body shop for the rear quarter and have them blend it all together.

www.car-parts.com will give you any color you want and parts in your area. Bondo is not your friend.

Not sure why you have to pay the deductable when the accident was not your fault. Maybe the laws in your state are different, but if his insurance accepted fault you shouldn't have to pay a penny.
 


The only estimate I got so far was through my insurance, so the $1200 would be like $1100 due to my deductible. I will most likely be going through his insurance so I don't pay the deductible but I haven't got the estimate from them yet.
 
Id make sure the shop throws a new skin or a whole door on! With it being right on the door jamb its gonna take a lot of abuse just being opened and closed no way in hell id let a shop pull and put even a little filler in it! New skin or new complete door.

X2 on looking around and not some cheap shop because chances are they'd fix that door.
