• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Multiple Issues... maybe

So I have a 2006 Pontiac Grand prix 3.6L V6

Overall Symptoms: Engine loses power then surges/jerks, Metallic Grinding on front driver side(NOT when braking), gouging in Driver side rotor(Brake pad worn only on driver side), Metallic jangling sound over bumps, Engine Light Always ON and Flashes when driving, RPMs Pulse when Idling or around 2000 RPMs causing a stall(started today), Water sloshing sound when accelerating or turning

What I have done recently: I changed the upper and lower head gaskets(Not sure if I set the Lash properly on the rockers) and Timing cover gasket(due to Coolant leak), new spark plugs, new wires, new coil, new power module

Engine Code: Random Misfires

I work on my own car, but I am just learning how. I need this car to get to School and Work and I don't have alot of money. I am trying to Dial into the root cause without spending a boatload of money on things that don't work.

Any Help would be greatly appreciated.

was it running ok before all that work? and why in the world would you pull the heads off? they hardly every blow a gasket.

theres no rocker lash, you tq em to 25lb's if you used reusable bolts, 11 and like 90 degrees iirc for new stock bolts that are tty.

flashing light, thats either it needs a tune up really bad, plug wires are on wrong, or, the cat is clogged up. hi miles na engines clog the cat all the time.

get your codes scanned at a parts store, its free at most places.

I pulled them because a mechanic told me that the gaskets were blown.

It was surging before all the work, but all the other issues appeared recently.

And my engine is almost at 200k miles

ok, lets get it scanned, post your codes, cause the codes always lead to the answer.

flashing cel tho, could be the cat, they tend to feel weak, lack of power, and sounds like a vacuum with a full bag when you floor it.

you can take the up stream o2 out run it with the hole open, see if its got more power. this lets the exhaust out pre cat.

or drive it some what hard at night and look under the car and see if its glowing red.
