• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

More Low/Midrange power... without doing a top swap.

Yes, I've read the "Safely Modding your 3800" post, figured I'd cover that before I get chastised..

With that being said, the basic mods, IE: ported/polish TB, HV3, headers, increased rocker ratio, different intake, 180 stat, new PCM whatever else seems mostly geared towards the 5000rpm+ range but what about low to midrange improvements.

Not looking to go the top swap route, but was just curious with the L36's if with a few mods you can improve the low to midrange.

TIA

Headers...on a non head/cam N/A car? Pointless. You'll lose a BUNCH of low end with headers. Keep the PLOG/DP Combo...Go with a GTP TB and GTP injectors...or a cam. Cam will help every bit of midrange and the PLOG/DP combo will keep the low end torque you lost with headers.

I ran headers on my n/a car with a cam and without, I cant say it was pointless but for the money it might be for some. I think cam would be the only way. I cant remember if retarding the cam timing gives more lowend or more top end? idk its been awhile. Oh and a tune with out tq managment with a bit more timing/compression.

if you know how to degree a cam and want to experiment by throwing money into the wind on gaskets then go for it, but im not sure that anything you put on the car is going to give you low end. pretty much everything you buy is looking to add power up top where our cars lack it.
