Monsoon Rear Speaker upgrade and wiring??

Quick question- looking to upgrade the rear 6x9s in my 05 gp with monsoon, searched some and it sounds like a component system would be best for replacement? Would the wiring for a component system be, to use the low output for the woofer/midbass and the high for the tweeter? a crossover wouldnt be needed since the monsoon amp is doing what the crossover would? right?? Not sure? Thanks

No you wont need the crossover. But I believe the monsoon speakers are 2 ohm. So you'll want to find a 2 ohm 6x9 component speaker, or you'll be disappointed in your new speakers.

Thanks for the reply, i thought i remembered in a different post about the monsoon speakers being 4 ohm? ill have to do so more searching. also was thinking aobut going with a 6.5 round speaker in the rear since that was what crutchfield kind of suggested? thanks agian

Yeah, the 6.5's will work just fine....you'll just need to buy or make adapters. I'm pretty sure they're 2ohm...but you can test that easily with a DMM. I believe the 6x9's are run off the amp, and the tweets are run off the deck
