Monsoon Center Channel Question

GP1138

New member
I did some looking around, so apologies if this is easily found and I just missed it.

I just obtained a 2004 Comp G with the Monsoon system. It has the center channel, which is fortuitous because I run a 5.1 channel 2-din unit that I play DTS/Dolby 5.1 discrete music on. I need to know if the Monsoon system will allow me to run the amp outputs directly to the speakers (if I need to put new speakers in that's OK, I realize they may be a different impedance) or directly to the amp (as the Bose system in my '02 does) to interface with? From what I'm reading, the Monsoon treats each channel seperately. Am I able to run wires to these?

Are you referring to the Monsoon amp or an aftermarket amp. The Monsoon system is a 9-speaker system. Door woofers, door tweeters, rear 6x9s (woofer & tweeter) and the center dash speaker = 9 speakers. The wires going to your dash speaker are from the Monsoon amp. Does Crutchfield or someone else offer a wiring harness adapter for you head unit/Monsoon system? Not exactly sure what you are trying to accomplish. Have you hooked up you HU to the GP yet?

I have hooked up my HU, and found the two wires from the Monsoon unit that go to the center channel. I guess my question is: does the Monsoon amp process the signal and filter out things from the L/R channel and then send them to the center? Or does it take the L/R signal and then create a center from them without taking away from the front L/R channels? I need to know if I need to bypass the front L/R through the Monsoon amp, which if true means I then have to fool with the seperate tweeter signal.

I have this system in both my GP's, not sure if this helps but it seems to me the front center speaker seems to be voice, and has very little base. When I upgraded the speaker I installed a base blocker as well.

I bought a pair of these on eBay for $40 and sold one to another guy with Monsoon. I think they sound great. Definitely get more sound and can actually single out the dash speaker.
