Milzy Motorsports 4t65EHD Transmission

Hello everyone! I own a built 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP Comp G (intercooler, S3X cam, 2.8 pulley) and my transmission is struggling so I am looking into my options for building the trans. Does anyone have any experience with or knowledge about Milzy Motorsports? They do transmission builds and are priced similarly to TEP. I am aware that Dave at TripleEdgePerformance is the guy to go to, however he's also very busy and it will take longer going that route. I will post a link below to Milzy Motorsports website. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!!!

Milzy Motorsports 4t65eHD Transmission - Milzy Motorsports

I haven't heard good things about milzy lately. maybe back in the day they were reputable, but I wouldn't consider them anymore.

It will take forever to get it done through Milzy, if it ever does.

I know Dave is really busy. Other options; Nicholls Perfomance Transmission, or Harmon Performance Transmission.

Both of those guys do great work and usually have quick turn-around time.

Use gxp chains. Don't let someone talk you into a 7/8" chain.

The sonnex billet 3rd is also a great upgrade.

I also wouldn't mess around with a 4340 input shaft at your power level. Go right to the 300m.

I’ve decided to go with TEP. Not messing around with Milzy. One more question about the trans build... should I stick with my 3.29 gear ratio or use 2.93s?

I heard TEP wasn't taking any new customers. You could verify this for us if you want. there are other trans builders out there, I think GTPpower mentioned a few.

If I decide to go with the 3.29s, what stall would you guys recommend? I’ll hopefully be getting the HPS4 which includes a new torque converter. And wouldn’t the 2.93 gears be easier on the chain? Not to mention get better gas mileage? These cars already spin pretty hard down low so I’m trying to figure out which gear ratio would be best...

With an m90 car, you want as low of a stall as possible, regardless of gears. Stock works well.

With gxp chains, you won't have to worry about wear on your setup, so any gears are fine. You will lose a mpg or two with 3.29's and it will be more difficult to launch if you don't have sticky tires.

Thanks for the reply. I planned on keeping the stall either stock or slightly above that. I’m still undecided about the gears, and I’m not worried that much about gas mileage... but I do want whichever would be better for 1/4 mile times. It will be going to the track about once a season when it’s all done.

you should get some drag radials at least. trick is to do a hell of a burn out with dr's, with a real good burn out even my st tires stick pretty good. my set up it will spin like butter if im to hard onto the throttle off the line. the starting line is the whole race really. getting off clean and fast as you can with out breaking the tires free. its a fine line in a fwd car.

Yeah I know it will take some practice getting it to launch with the right amount of throttle so that it won’t spin. Any details on your set up? I’m considering the 3.29s with 2800 stall.

im on a stock gear for a hd tranny and stock TC for a l67.

i can foot break it to about 1800 ish rpm, when the last yellow comes on i let the brake go and just ease into it till about 15 20 mph, its by feel when you can floor it. but my scan show me got in wot about that speed. every time you go to the track its a bit different too, air temp, track temp, how well they prep the track that day. all sorts of factors.

street tires i drop to 21 psi too. as well as when i run my dr's. those i run at 20.

this was my best run with the gen 3, 2.8 and meth. you can hear it getting eased into and nailed pretty much. all my other vids you can hear the tires talking, not big smoking the tires spinning, but like a stuck pig, on the edge of traction lol need to fix a oil leak and get it back to the track to see what the gen 5 blower and n* did for it.
