Hey does anybody know what scanner to use to do a cluster mileage swap? I know a GM Tech2 would do it but i cant get my hands on one. Im sure theres a alternative.

Im getting a new cluster and would like to have my original miles displayed.

Also i wanna ask if i dont have my original miles from my original cluster isn't there another way to retrieve the miles? From the pcm or bcm?
 


I'm pretty sure only a tech 2 will have the ability to re-write GM data back onto the computer/bcm.

A solous, modis, genisys etc are just scan tools, they couldnt program anything like that.
 
If you order a doorman cluster they are programmed to your mileage then sent within a couple days
 


check ebay for cluster re builders, theres a bunch out there. pm one, ask what they would charge to adjust the mileage.

i had my 03 gmc cluster rebuilt, if you wanted the miles changed he had you sign and mail him a disclaimer. people do buy used and have that rebuilt, then have their miles put in the cluster. the guy i used also sold used clusters.

ive seen cl ads for mechanics with tech 2 scanners who offer programming.

lastly, theres always the f ing dealer.
 


Like I said...

You could toss an Ebay tech II on your credit card, use it and resell it back on ebay before even accruing interest.
 
Can't someone here make a simple programmer / app or something ? I saw a post earlier with some crazy looking tech language going on.
 
Hmmm I wonder how many people would be honest about programming their mileage.... I mean my car never goes to a shop and the only time the mileage is ever recorded is when I go to a state inspection. Ever wonder if people just dial down the mileage close the previously recorded one lol
 
Im looking into getting a tech 2 to use a couple times and sell..Need to program a couple keyfobs, to tpms calibration.
 


I sent one of my clusters to eBay like 3yrs but they told me it was beyond repair, circuit board burnt out
