Hi

I'm Umby from Atlanta, GA

I may be purchasing an 02 GTP tomorrow. I love everything about the car but I was hoping some more experienced owners could chime in.

Its a nice, unmolested 02 GTP 2 door. The mileage is right at 165k. Its rumored the engine was rebuilt at some point but I'm not sure.

I've already driven it once and it did great. The current owner has a stack of receipts for a new intake gasket, new alt, axles, and more... but I need to know some things to look out for so I can make a smart decision. The car will be my daily driver if it works out.

Thanx in advance!

Its more or less a trade deal...

I wound up with a little Civic hatch the guy wants and he offered me the GTP. I've always kind of wanted one so it seems like a good fit since I'm not really an import person...

We'll say value at around $2500-$3k

If you're mechanically inclined, most of the car can be repaired relatively cheaply. Bodywork is the most expensive, so try to find a car with a body in great condition.

The body and interior are in GREAT shape... and I've been around wrenches all my life... I just prefer working on cars because I want to, not because I have to :)

It seems trustworthy enough, but I've been mostly a Ford guy my adult life, so even if something was obvious it may not grab my attention... just looking for some points to make sure I look at

just check everything out real good, check coolant, oil make sure it looks good, you said he's got receipts and stuff ask him bout all the regular maintenance, oild change, tranny oil+filter, and just drive it and make sure you feel good bout it, most important part!

goodluck and keep posted with pictures :th_thumbsup-wink:
