Meth + NO TUNE=?

I will be getting my Snow Performance Meth Injection kit for my car here within 2 days. Im pretty excited to install it. Im just not sure if it will run ok without it being tuned out. I'll still install it, just keep the power off until tune time if I have to. The roads here are still kind of sloppy but are getting much better :)

X2.... I would be excited too, but don't even install it. I wouldn't be able to resist the temptation haha. Out of sight out of mind until you can get it tuned.

I wholeheartedly disagree. When i added my devils own kit to my old setup, i put it on and ran it. There was NO boggyness, NO very rich condition. It actually felt stronger because prevented the knock that i had been getting previously.
As for wideband readings, on my newer setup, my low meth light came on so i turned the system off, and my AFR did not change more than .1 With a properly sized nozzle for your setup, you would be fine without a tune. Am i saying you should run it permanently without a tune, no. You will see better gains tuning with it so you can get your timing adjusted properly.
If your nozzle is too big for your setup, then yes, you could def experience some boggy issues.

who said anything about spraying pure meth? I would assume the op read the directions and recommendations from snow performance or any other meth kit vendors...

im not saying you cant mix and im not saying its not helpful, but methanol evaporates and cools better than water does (and it's a fuel...) so by not running 100% you're doing yourself a disservice.

pure meth is also cheaper than those stupid premixes that people buy.

I was going to make my own mix but a friend here found some windshield fluid that's 60 Meth 40 Water. So I'll run that.

Thanks for all the feedback guys :) I'll contact my tuner and see when he can do it. And I will hold off on the installation. Street tune ftw.

Whattt?? yep. your google is definitely broken dude.

reference: ethanol (e85).

water has a better cooling CAPACITY (ex. intercoolers), but does not evaporate and cool at the rate that methanol does. it's fine, i'm not a chemist, but water is just taking place of a fuel that you could be using instead.

So you must be saying that everyone out there who runs water/meth mix is doing it wrong and they should just run straight methanol? Is that what you are saying? All the people with real world experience with running it this way(mix), their results, including vendors are just plain wrong? hmpf. interesting.

i didnt say they were wrong.

mixes vary and the water isnt as useful as the methanol is. 50/50 is recommended from manufacturers because at that point it isnt a flammable liquid yet. they dont want everyone just starting their car on fire and then coming back to them with the issues. notice how all of the pumps are rated for 100% methanol use, but they still say to use 50/50?

dude you are wrong. Water absorbs more heat as it evaporates than does methanol. Look it up.

970 btu/lb vs 473 btu/lb

absorbs more heat.

versus having a cooling effect in the cylinders as it evaporates as well as becoming a secondary fuel with a much higher octane than gasoline.

k.

I have to Nutswing on Dan on this matter. 50/50 cools better then pure meth, HOWEVER it may not make the most power. I've seen turbo guys, and blowers bigger than needed make more power with meth because they don't need as much cooling more than a higher resistance to pre-ignition.
