metallic grinding/spinning noise

Hey guys, new here just have one major quesiton. When I turn my 94 se on every now and then it has a loud metallic grinding/spinning sound. Its not any of the pulleys or belts at least that I am aware of.

My old 99 cavalier had a similar sound before the A/C went out, but only if the A/C was on. This noise happens regardless, but then after driving above 40mph or so for a while it does go away.

Any thoughts on what this could be??

welcome. if it's a constant grinding while the car is on it's a pulley in one way or another because your drive belt is constantly turning.

take off your belt and turn each pulley by hand. when you get to the a/c compressor, make sure you push it in toward the motor while spinning and pulling it away as well as that pulley could have a faulty clutch.

just bought a 2000se recently and the local transmission place told me it could be whats called a force gear.Mine is going to get checked soon so check my post and I will post the results.
