Massive oil leak

So I have a 00 GT with about 144k on it and today I was out doing some WOT runs and after the second one my oil pressure light came on. So I limped it home and popped the hood and there was a lot of smoke and then I saw on the back right (passenger) side of the motor and firewall was soaked in oil. Looked underneath and the whole underbody was covered in oil and was leaking pretty good. I didn't have a chance to look closer into it because it was dark. I am just wondering what on the backside of the motor could have blown out due to beating on it.

Oil pressure switch will piss oil straight out the sensor.

Oil filter can leak and the oil filter housing can piss oil out all over the passenger side.

Clean it up, add some oil and see what one it is. My guess is the switch.

Ya I didn't think to check the oil filter housing because all of the oil was on the back side and the oil filter is more towards the front, like I said, I wasn't really able to look too far into it yet.

After doing a little research it is sounding a lot like the oil pressures switch, mainly because the car ran normally after the light came on. Hopefully that is all it is, seems pretty easy to replace.

Hopefully you didn't actually run it low on oil! Though I'm guessing that you checked it before you kept driving. I hope that's all it was!

Well I drove it about a quarter of a mile or so back to my dad's house where I parked it. I cannot say what the oil level is right now but it still sounded and felt normal when I parked. Upon leaving (with a different car) I drove the road that I was doing the WOT runs on and I saw an oil trail for a pretty long way so who knows. I will know more tomorrow when I can go take a look at it.

I live about 30 miles from my dad's house, where the car is now, so it is parked and sitting for now. Wasnt going to try to limp it all the way home.

Well I wish you luck! I would be less concerned and pessimistic if I hadn't personally seen the aftermath of running low on oil for only a short drive did to my original engine, but it can't be as bad as that (hint, the connecting rods of 1 and 2 collided). I'm so paranoid now, I carry a quart of every fluid my car needs in the trunk along with a fire extinguisher and a tool kit! :th_laugh-lol3:

Well thank you, I will get oil in it tomorrow and look for a leak. Hopefully, it doesn't need a motor but if it does I might as well go L67.

It was the oil pressure switch. Took the passenger side wheel off started it up and oil started pouring out. Get the old one out and got a new one in in less than 10 mins. Thanks for all the help.
