Mass air sensor Need help

Today on the way home from work my fiance said her check engine light came on and 3 minutes later the car stalled. She started it back up and drove for about a mile and it stalled again. She was able to get the car to auto zone where they ran a code check and sais it was the mass air sensor. My question is how hard it it to change and whats does it look like? Thanks for the help!

That kinda depends Johnny.. what does she drive for a car?

You may be thinking that I'm putting that bluntly, I am.. but it's kinda necessary info to help you locate the part you are looking for.

Yup...and to verify that its really bad...unplug it and start the car and see if the dying issue goes away. Then while it is idling...plug it back in. If the car sputters and dies...its your MAF.

Ok went out and unplugged the MAF started car let it idle for 2 minutes and all was great. Plugged it back in and about 20 seconds later it started to idle down and almost died. So im assuming thats the problem?

Yup...first things first, try some MAF cleaner. It's like 5 bucks. And its close to the brake cleaner at your local auto parts store.

I tried cleaning mine, (97 GP GT) and it helped for about a week and 1/2. But in the end I had to empty the wallet out for that little black square.
