Mass air flow sensor

Ok I see where everyone says if you think the problem is the maf disconnect it and if the problem stops replace the maf. My question is can we just eliminate the MAF? I know it will cause a code and inspection problem but there are no inspections where I live and also if I am out on the orde and this happens is this at leat a temp fix to get it home?

No because the car is in limp (or safe) mode when it is not detecting air flow via the MAS. It will be drivable, but you will lose gas mileage since it will be running closed loop at all times.

Ahhh thanks for the clarification I been wondering about that for a year, but is it a good way to get the car home if you are like 20-30 miles out from home? I ask because this happened to me once when I got it home it turned out to me the maf but ran like crap the whole way there
