How do you know if an maf sensor is bad? And will an aftermarket intake cause this. I have low rpms when idle. Rich gas. Sputters. Wants to stall but doesn't.

Does it run better if you unplug the MAF and restart the car?


Have you done anything tune up related to correct this problem?? Any check engine light codes?

bad sensors will set a code 99% of the time. kinda sounds like a vac leak maybe. try spraying some carb cleaner around the vac lines, see if the idle jumps up, if so the last place you sprayed is the problem area.

I've unplugged it when running and it didn't seem any different. I haven't tried that Scotty. I will give it a go tomorrow. Could that also explain why my boost gauge won't go all the way up like it's supposed to?

you un plug the maf with the car off, then start it. if it runs better the maf could be the problem.


a vac leak would show a loss in boost. maybe the map sensor is leaking or the line to it from the port under the snout.

Under the snout. The vac lines a small black tubes right? If so there's a 3 piece connector under the snout. If I'm correct.

this is how i ran the new vac line and t's. i reused the factory line to the map sensor, the plastic line fit into the new vac line on the the T.

Maf sensor is between the TB and intake.

Map sensor is behind the supercharger should be attached to a bracket. Follow the vacuum line in the back and you should spot it.

Underneath the snout is your vacuum lines have someone start the car and monitor the rpms while you spray carb cleaner around the vacuum lines. If the rpms jump then you found your leak. Also spray around the lim to spot any potential leaks.
