MAF problem- maybe?

Hi there, I am new here, my name is Betsy :)
I have a 2000 Grand Prix Super Charger. I am NOT a mechanic. The MAF has been replaced 3 times in the last month. I keep going back to the shop when the engine light comes on and it starts to run awful. The last MAF they put in, I made sure it was a GM part, but now the LOW TRAC light is flashing and this happened last time before I started to have problems. It has been about 10 days since the last one was put in. ANY IDEAS? I read some of the threads, and maybe I should suggest they disconnect the MAF and see how it runs? Could something be making the MAF go bad? Doesn't make much sense. Car has about 60K miles on it. Any suggestions you people, who know way more than I do, may have would be greatly appreciated it. Thanks for your time, Betsy :)

Please post in the correct section.

Also what is the MAS sensor?

Theres a MAF and MAP but no MAS AFAIK.

Re: MAS problem- maybe?

Sorry, I had no idea how else to post anything. I looked for a place to post and couldn't find it so I went to new thread.
And I mis-typed, MAF is what I meant- thanks

Notta problem.

Now that we know for sure which sensor it is:

Flash LOW TRAC means your tires are spinning and have been for quite a bit of time (say half a second?)

The unplug test works great.

If your car acts up again, unplug the MAF and if the car runs fine then its the MAF.

Just don't go full throttle with the MAF unplugged.

Get the exact DTC for the MAF as well. There are a few of them and it could be either the MAF or the wiring.

Also what year of car is it? 99-03 have a different type of maf as a 97-98, installing the wrong maf can make the car run like crap.

Thanks for all of the help! I turned the TRAC off and I the LOW did not flash yesterday. I think it was just a coincidence that it happened before the problems with the MAF the last time. So.... so far, no problem at all and the car is running fine. My car is a 2000 and like I said in my post the last part they got, was the correct GM part - by Delco- I do believe. So, most likely the first two they put in were for the 97-98, that makes more sense than 2 of them going bad.
I am on day 11 and no problems as of yet! Thank you, I will keep you posted and used some of your tips if I do have a problem. I really appreciate the time you both took to write to me, Betsy :)
