Machined LIM

What exactly is done to a LIM when installing an intercooler? Is is just expanding/matching the opening to accommodate the larger intercooler opening?

Reason I'm asking is that I have an extra LIM, and if it's just some handy dremel work, then I'll save myself the $75-90 that is usually charged for machining it.

You got it. That's pretty much the majority of it. Depending on which IC you use..you might need the LIM opened up to fit the core for it to sit down in. My WBS S3 IC was like that. Nice juicy core size..

Only other thing is the PCV, if you want it to work then use the core as a template to relocate the rear hole as it is moved a half inch. and for the front hole you can do the zzp and put a groove in it for the holes to connect. I prefer to have the LIM welded to create a new passage right beside the old hole for perfect flow everytime as the groove could plug up or get filled with RTV.

Plug the throttle body coolant passages with pipe plugs.
Also open up coolant flow from the back head.
