I'm having problems uploading a pic, but for those who have rebuilt their trans, I'm sure you will know which part I'm referring to. Mine is all chewed up. Is this part necessary, and if so, where do I find a replacement? thanks

The lube dam helps to keep the geartrain lubed while everything is spinning and without it or if it is damaged/cracked it can cause lube problems and make shorter life of the gears in the front and rear planets. Often times this piece gets broken from removing an output shaft without removing the snap ring on either end of the shaft or if the fluid has been running too hot for an excessive time the plastic becomes brittle. We sell new lube dams if you dont have any luck finding one.
