lowered ricers with bike racks

There's a few riced out cars in my town lowered enough that they are practically touching the ground with body kits that look stupid. They have giant spoilers for "down-force" and "aerodynamics." I know that's not true because they are front wheel drive, except for the impreza wrx running around town. But the thing that gets me is that they have cargo racks and bike racks etc. I don't know any of these people but I am pretty sure they don't bike at all, since its been 4 years from the time I moved here and noticing their bike racks never once had a bike on it. So why do they do it? IMO it makes the car look ugly even though it is riced out already, have worse gas mileage and less aerodynamic.

I think its a "Euro" thing.

This.

Another one of those fads.

I see no problem with a bike rack if your actually putting a bike on it to use. Not everyone has a truck so it's okay in my book. Also I see a ton of guys that put a bike on it just for looks and not for actual functionality. The whole hellaflush things is gay to me and will never look right. I'm all for a lowered car but there's a point where to low is to low and functionality is eliminated.

I hate hellaflush.... even more so on a decal plagued ricer. But, ugh, I'd kill for proper aerodynamics. It'd make those head on 50-70mph winds a lot more tolerable, I.e. to not feel like I'm driving into a brick wall.

you should see all the people here with boats that never touch the water. its jaw dropping. they hook up there boat to there truck and go driving around with it all weekend im think how much money do you make again? apparently to much lol

The **** are you smoking? While these guys you see are probably posers, FWD cars DO use spoilers effectively because there is NO WEIGHT in the back end and that causes it to get pretty loose at speeds above highway speeds.

The vast majority of spoilers are for looks, and looks only. To believe otherwise is ridiculous.

Of course! But by rights, most aftermarket spoilers that serve a purpose other than aesthetics and very light hearted downforce are either flat out hideous for these street rats, being gt-esque style, or multi decks with diffuser like fins (a wing twice the size of your honda? DERP, sign me up!). Or just plain add too much downforce, because there is nothing cool about such excessive pressure your ass end squats while off the throttle... but, alas, that's just an opinion

I actually used my snowboard rack on my stanced car.

I totally understand if one would have a use for them most of the time, but i see these guys' cars everyday with nothing on them. I guess it is a fad, like having a giant spoiler on ones car.

no, i'm not disagreeing. i see people driving around with them all the time with nothing on them. it's stupid. i lost a serious 2-3mpg just by having it on my car so when i wasn't using it i took it off.

I don't understand these types of rant posts. What about lifted trucks or jeeps? They might never see the mud or trails but how do you know? What if its once a month that they do, are they going to demod 29 days out of the month to save a little gas? Those guys might not bike and it might be a fad, but at the end of the day they probably will use the rack eventually. Why buy a harley? A sport bike would get you somewhere quicker. Why get a fast car when the speed limit is 65? Its not fuel efficient to get to 60 in 5 seconds. The answer to your question is that people will do what they want to do and it might be dumb but who's really right?
