Lower control arm mount hole size

I have been reading these posts for several years but just joined recently and now have a question. My son had a low speed collision with my 2000 gtp and the lower control arm and steering rack are damaged. Upon removing the lower control arm I noticed the holes in the mounting bracket are elongated or at least larger than the vertical bolt that secures it. Is this normal or did the wreck open up the hole? Thanks for the help.

The bolt hole most likely got elongated due to a bad control arm bushing. I wouldn't think it would affect it much.

if it was the rear one(horizontal) it'd mess with your alignment and braking. mines elongated at that one in particular unfortunately after 200k+ miles.
