Low speed noise, what is it?

Looking for ideas on what this might be. Car is a 2001 GP w/ 3.8, non-SC, 120K miles, I've owned since 25K.

When coming to a stop, say from 5 mph down to 0, it makes a sort of low growling noise, almost a vibration rather than a noise you can hear. Also sometimes makes the same noise starting up from 0 until 5 mph. Been doing this for maybe a year or more. I've recently replaced the front hubs (they had some play), which made no difference in the noise. At the same time as doing the hubs, I replaced the front pads (rotors looked fine) and the rear rotors and pads, also made no difference in the noise. So I figured must be the rear hubs, but when I take off a rear wheel/caliper/rotor and rotate the hub it is not rough at all, and has no play. So what the could it be? The axle half-shafts were replaced about 50K ago, they were Card One (chinese?), could they be bad and causing it? Any suggestions appreciated.

I would hook up the vehicle to a live data scanner than can read each wheel sensor.

The 0-5mph first vibration noise should be the ABS self test they run but if it keeps happending when you come to a stop I'd guess one of the sensor is dropping out to zero and causing the ABS to function. It may not be this but I would do it to rule it out.
