Loud reverse Squeak!!

Ok guys so here is the problem... My car will make a loud squeal only in reverse and it comes from the right font of the car. First off i thought it was the bearing so I changed that today and when i was done and went for a test drive its smoother then ever driving forward and making turns. But as soon as i go in reverse it squeals even louder!!!? So i have some other ideas but i would like to know if anyone else had any suggestions or have experienced this same issue. The car is a 2004 Grand Prix.

Brakes are fine. Thats why this is so puzzling to me. Since i just changed the bearing and it was doing this before hand also tells me its not the hub so that leaves it to the cv shaft or something internal there but its just a thought.

It can be that the pads you have are cheap and are making the sound.

Also maybe its the park brake shoes/pads rubbing on the inside of the rear rotor.

have you greased the caliper slider pin/bolts? or where the pads sit on the caliper bracket? ( the metal plate area)

if not take them apart, clean them up with brake cleaner, inside the caliper as well, grease the pin/bolts with synthetic brake grease. work it in good till they slide in and out nice and smooth.

auto zone sells it in ketchup like packets at the counter.

put it all back together and that should help.

ok i will try it out and see what happens. I was just thinking if it was the brakes i would hear it more then just in reverse.

sounds like the pads are dragging the rotor.

if they squeak when coming to a stop as well the greasing can fix that too.

they seemed to squeak some when you came to a stop going forward as well.

this is the same noise mine is making now but when i go forward and it didnt start till i did some front end work on my car. did you ever find a fix for this?

hey man dunno if you got your squeal fixed yet or not...i was having the same problem and it turned out to be a metal piece between the hub and steering knuckle that the hub goes into. Just bend that piece away from the rotors

Raising this thread from the dead, I had this same problem, turned out it was the bracket that holds the wheel sensor. Bent it back a touch and problem solved.
