Loud Random Clunk in Rear Of Car When Reversing - Happens Randomly

I have had the car checked out by many mechanics and no one sees any signs of a problem. The noise is pretty loud and goes right through my soul whenever it happens. Generally it happens after sitting a short period of time . No real common denominator to share. I would love to fix it.

I was guessing it could be the wheelbearings or the hubs but I would think somebody would’ve mentioned problem. Car is only driven in the summer and is in pristine condition. Just giving a little back ground.

Thanks for the help

Are you sure it’s coming from the rear? Sometimes the sounds can be deceiving. If so I would check the trailing arm bushings and the arms themselves for cracks or damage.

I have a clunk that comes from the right rear. I changed the strut the swaybar end link the the hub and upgraded to w-body store tailing arms. Still have the clunk and I just stopped caring.

Typicly it's one of the things I mentioned. Strut and trailing arm it seems to be the most common cause. Good luck post back when you find the cause
