loss of rear brakes

So the other day we had to find out the hard way,had to get on the brakes to the floor and the car did a 360,seems like the rear brakes are no longer working neither does the emergency brake,it's been out a few months but haven't noticed the regular brakes doing that, has good pads,is the emergancy brake tied into something to keep the brakes working properly or what can be the issue,03 grand prix se

Emergency brakes are separate from the hydraulic system. If you have a brake pedal that went to the floor then you need to look for a fluid leak somewhere or you have a bad master cylinder. Explain the whole 360° thing because I am thinking that only happens when the rears lock and the wheel is whipped either direction...

When I mean to the floor I mean they were pressed all they had which was normal but seems like the front locked up and spun the rear around,no leaks cause it stops great but whats gonna happen in a emergency and have to use them lol, when we pressed them it hooked a left and spun around

if one brake is non fuctional it will create a pull. during an emergency braking condition, it can cause a spin out. you need to inspect all the brakes. maybe you will find a seized caliper.

happened to me in a crown vic...one of the rear shoe adjusters was inop. never noticed anything until one day in the winter on a slippery road, emergency stop...nearly spun me into the ditch.

The vast majority of braking is done with the front. You could drive with no rear brakes and still be fine, but your stopping distance would be increased. Having no rear brakes would not cause a spin out.

As has been said it sounds more like one inoperable front brake is the cause of your issues.
