Looking for opinions

GPGXP

New member
I have recently decided to look for a new car and have really liked the GXP models. There are a few mods I see, which I like. I just want some opinions on whemther this car is a good buy. It's a 2008 GXP with 52,000 miles and they are asking 11,900 for it. I looked it up on kbb and excelent condition was 13,000-13,5000. Since it has 52,000 miles on it already am I going to be running into problems? Is this a good buy or no?

I'm not lookng for a lot of mods cause I'm going to college next year and don't need to spend all my money on mods. I just want a reliable car that is nice and has some get up and go.

11,500 is cheap. i got an 08 and i could only wish i owed that lol, and yes they have all the get up and go you will need.

They are good cars if you you dont wanna do alot of mods. Some people have had issue with short brake pad life. Which for me is a none issue.as i am hard on brakes anyways. Also tire choices are a bit limited due to the odd size.

Ok thanks. I have also read that the transmissions don't always last, is this true? If so what goes wrong with them. I also have a question about how the dod works. And about what rpm does it go into 8cylinder mode?

I got an 08 last week with 27k miles on it. I am very happy with the car so far. I do a lot of miles for commuting to work and back.
A few notes:
Likes:
I really like the options it has, even just standard
It's a very comfortable and fun to drive car
Great acceleration, braking and handling
The components are pretty solid, every high performance car will see it's share of breakages, all on how you drive it.
I am on the interstate a lot, love the mileage I get on it.

Dislikes:
The leather may be a little too fragile for me, i'm worried it will wear too quickly
There is no spare tire, you're given a kit with a plug in tire inflator, so if you have a blowout, you're basically just f-ed
XM radio costs $15 a month

A Bonneville GXP spare works just perfect for the GP GXP. There is a thread on another GP forum about this and where/how to order. The spare is 17" and is a black 5 star rim to fit over the large brakes.

I also believe a Cadillac DTS spare works as well, but can not confirm.

I purchased one from a guy who was selling his GXP to purchase a Trailblazer SS. It's a nice peace of mind to have one.

keep the leather conditioned. can't believe you don't have a spare. and let your xm subscription end, the longer you wait the better the deal they offer you. last one i got in the mail is 6 months for 20 bucks. I wasn't too impressed with it though, everytime you drive under a bridge you lose signal.

Thanks for the advice guys.
I'll have to look into that spare. My round trip for work is about 100 miles and the last thing I want is to be stranded on the interstate.
I haven't had the car for a week yet, the XM was already run out... I"ll keep my eye on their site and see if any deals pop up...
