Nick..I doubt you'll find many places that won't make you sign something saying that. It's a modded car with modded tune. Things can happen.

On the dyno. If you're just doing a baseline or self tuning then yes, sign it. But I'd advise against signing if they will be the ones tuning your car. They should be 100% liable for damages if they blow your car up. If they don't agree there are shops that will agree. They have (or should have) insurance to protect themselves in that event.

in my eyes the only way this would happen is if the shop built the engine, installed it and then tuned it. this is the only way i see the shop eating the cost for blowing it up.

you bring them a car already built and want it tuned. it blows your eating the bill. not the shop.
 
Depends on many factors.

If the tune nukes the engine, the shop should be liable.

However if its not the tune, then it should be the owner/engine builder.

Finding someone trustworthy enough to distinguish between the two? Good luck.
 
I signed nothing? They went through my car thoroughly before even throwing it up on the dyno, they even smoked it and addressed all the vacuum leaks. Then they went through the original tune, which was a "F"'d up by the original tuner, on the car before they started the dyno run(s). If something were to happen to the car after all that, while they were doing "their" tuning, I would assume they would be liable? I would be lying if I stated I would of liked to pay less, but it seems about average for this type of tune, so I think I got what I paid for. My car was in there hands from 10am until about 4pm, it was a long day but they did work on it the entire time. My additional cost was for a O2 sensor and labor to install. I'm happy with it, it is a fun peppy car now, pulls strong and even the MPG's went up by quite a bit as well. But have to admit that I have been bitten by the bug and foresee more parts and tuning being thrown at the car in the future!
 


Working on it for 6 hours and doing things like going over it ahead of time, that's good practice and sounds like a great place.
 
The car made nice power especially with only 9pounds. I'm actually gonna be swapping to a new intake pipe and ls3 maf. When youre ready to turn up the boost let me know we can make an iat setup like my car and get rid off the stock maf. As for tune time I've been going there since 2006, they also built my l32 when I nuked my l36 in 08. Can't say anything bad about them, they're like a family to me
