At 165000 mile the rack on the GTP has decided it wanted to start leaking out both bellows. Well it didnt just start, it been leeking for a while just not that bad, now its is leaking pretty good and need to be fixed. The rack on the car had been recently installed before I baught the car in 2009 with 136k. Now, if this rack is only 3 years old after being remanufactured, I am being somewhat overcautious as to my choice of supplier, and wheather I should get a good used, from BARLEY USED autoparts or not. Shopping around I found " carsteering.com."
They seem to have a good deal on a 2000 GP r&p at $175 with a $25 core.
My question is, has anybody herd of, or delt with this company Steering Rack and Steering Box at Wholesale Prices from Car Steering before?

Thanks.

I was always told to go with a genuine AC Delco rack, and that's what I found on Ebay. Straight from a closed out dealer stock in it GM box. You could try Rock Auto for one as well. Don't cheap out here. Sure, you can score a used one for $100, but how many times do you want to have to replace the rack before you just end up buying a new one?

And no, I've not personally heard of this company, but someone else here may have.

What year is your GTP? Also, you may have Magnasteer which can influence the price as well. If you have a small electrical conenctor coming off the rack near where the big ribber boot covers the steering shaft then you have Magnasteer.

Rockauto has the AC-Delco for like $180+core... but check for yourself. I'd feel better going the extra $50 for a name brand itme when it comes to steering. Just my $.02...

Thanks for the info. The car is a 2000 without the magnasteer, and i def. do not want to have to do this again, even three years from now. I think it pretty crappy that a reman rack would start to leak after 3 years, if it was even a reman, who knows, the previous owner must have had it installed. I am more concerned about quality than price, I would pay more If I could feel confident about a perticular supplier.

Thanks
