This shouldn't' be this da%$% hard.... :mad::mad:
I have the P0171 code and it's cause it to hestiate from time to time so thanks to this forum I was able to pin point it to the EGR Tube it was cracked (2nd used one in 3 months :mad::mad: ) it was a PITA to figure it out until I searched here ;)
so I figured I'd buy a new one ...

anyway my problem (Mechanically NOT mental , we dint have enough time for all that ... ) is that I am having a hard time finding a EGR tube. I have called the "Box" stores & they can't pull it up
Called GM Dealer and they stated it was part number 24508516
had the "Box" store X the number to a Dorman number598-209 which they had in stock so I drive about 35 min only to find out it was the wrong one!!! :mad::mad:

so I need ya'lls expertise !!!

what part number do I need ?? :th_nervous:
and where is the best place to get it ?

its for a 1998 SC

thanks in advance

head to a junk yard and pull one off any 3800 engine.

in the mean time, you can smear orange hi temp rtv over the seam to seal the leak.

Last I knew...dealers were charging maybe $13 for one. You will have a tough time finding one in a JY that isn't cracked, but it is possible.

$13 ? The one I was quoted was like $44 ??
that what I was afraid, getting one from a junkyard,
You dont know what the part number is for the correct one do you BIll ?

Delete the damn EGR.

Remove the two plates that bolt to the manifold and LIM.

Stick a penny behind each one, RTV the penny to them...let dry, bolt back to LIM and manifold...cut or hide the old plug. If North Carolina is a pain with inspections, have someone tune the PCM to delete the P0171 and EGR codes
