Lighting Issues

I just bought this car about a week ago and inherited some issues, not sure if they're connected.
Trying to get some ideas on where to start, thanks.

1) Auto headlights do not work
2) Radio spikes (goes from low to high, not drastically)
3) HUD is dimmer than it should be
4) DIC does not light up
5) Radio screen does not light up
6) Gear indicator (next to shifter) does not light up

I need to check fuses, thinking it may be something w/ the ground.

The dimmer does dim the interior lights.
Radio button lights do come on.

1) Auto headlights do not work - Check the fuse behind the glove box. If it's ok, it oculd be the sensor on the dash.

2) Radio spikes (goes from low to high, not drastically) - The radio could just be going bad.
3) HUD is dimmer than it should be - You could try to replace the dimmer switch or you could go ahead and do this http://www.grandprixforums.net/97-03-hud-dimming-repair-fix-33998.html
4) DIC does not light up - The bulbs could be out. You could try swapping some new one's in to see if that's the issue. The bulb size is PC74

5) Radio screen does not light up - The bulb is probably out. You could replace it with one of these

Check all your fuses and circuit breakers for continuity and power first. Theres one fusebox under the hood and one by the glove box.
 
Okay thanks Guz and Transam, I will start there. I should also mention that the gear indicator next to the shifter also does not light up, something tells me that is connected with the dic and radio and maybe the headlights.
 


Not likely. It's probably just because someone didn't care to fix problems as they occasionally come up, so you're faced with all of them at once.
 
So I may have found part of the problem. There's the piece at the top of the dash that has "red light, sensor, sensor/black light), what is this called? The sensor/black light is not there. A pic of this piece would also be helpful.

Ingot some lighting issues, I have LEDs, all in my map, dome, floor, door and trunk, and when I start my car,day or night, the lights will be on the turn to a low dim and won't go off at all while driving, fuse? Sensor in the switch? Help
