LED DRL's as backup lights?

Anyone ever think about cutting some holes in the rear bumper and putting some 8 LED DRL's in as back-up lights. I ordered some new spyder style led tail lights and they came with some of those 8 LED day time running lights. I already have HID's in the fogs and headlights as well as switchbacks in the corner lights so i have plenty of light up front. I recently tinted my windows and i like to back in my drive way so visibility is an issue. I also have a cool white led bulb in each of my reverse lights. Just thought i could put the DRL's to use and try and wire them up to the back-up lights for increased visibility. The lights are similar to the ones in the picture, fairly simple. just an idea, anyone want to give an opinion go ahead.:th_thumb-up:

The problem would be mounting them in such a way they don't stick out and throw off the look of the car. I got some 60w LED reverse lights and they are plenty bright enough for my tinted windows.

Unless you cut/mold Circa Grand Am/Pontiac Sunfire, i dont think it would look to good. Just my .02

I thought the same thing about how it looked. I should have mentioned that i also heavily tinted my tail lights as well. Rolling my window down usually does the trick tho haha.

The only reason i want to do it this way is because i already have them. I think if i cut it just right and throw a light coat rustoleum lens tint on them they will blend alright.

I was thinking maybe down low above each exhaust tip if they would fit and something to darken them up like you said.

Depending how big they are the could possibly fit them under the license plate because its like a little shelf. Just throwing out ideas

I currently have HID reverse lights, and I plan on putting some Rigid LED's underneath the car, pointing rearward. Just need time.

IMO, cars look silly with reverse lights in the bumper etc.

Where do you stand on hanging them on the bumper above the exhaust tips?
NO! LOL

The only way these might look ok is if they were frenched into the bumper, and the curve of the light housing matched that of the bumper.

I put some flush mount Rigid's on one of our shop trucks; black lights, black bumper, looks good. Trucks can get away with this, but cars can't.

Get some bigger and brighter lights and mount them "stealth" style so all you see is the light when they are on.

Those are mine. You can't tell in the pic, but they are bright as crap. U can see everything. Their diodedynamics reverse light bulbs...the brightest option they had
