Leaking Oil. Rear Main Gasket and Seal.

Well, ol' Blue has been parked for a while now. Rear main gasket was leaking oil bad. As was the rear valve cover, despite being redone with Felpro.
Got all the gaskets here. Have a set of aftermarket and GM gaskets. I used the GM valve cover gaskets and Felpro grommets. Think I'm going to use the Victor Reinz for the rear gasket. Seems better than the GM version.
I might as well change the seal too. Why not right? The Victor Reinz seal has way more depth. Not sure if that's better/worse. Also a good time to do the spark plugs.

Also doing the oil pan gasket. Have both the Felpro and GM pan gaskets. Not sure which to use. Is the process still the same, RTV sandwich for the oil pan gasket? Meaning RTV top and bottom?

How do you guys recommend installing that new rear main gasket? I've read Scotty recommends putting RTV on the bottom 2in on the gasket/plate.

i was just helping out another local with this. i use permatex super 300 aviation sealer for the paper and dynamic oring gaskets.

i consider the newer GM teflon seals on the left as better than the old style (~92-04ish) lip seals. i rarely ever replace the seals as most leaks are the paper gasket or the cporners where it maktes witht he pan rail

just a heads up, normally its cheaper to get the pan gasket by purchacing the entire cs9917 kit....they charge less for everything than they do for just the pan gasket.

the pan gasket also normally gets my oiling mods, felpro/gm are equiv in this area
