Lazy 1-2 shift 04 GT

it started about 2 weeks, on the 1-2 shift it will be lazy almost like slipping then any other shift after that is fine. It doesn't really do it at light throttle, sometimes at mid throttle, and the few times I did at WOT it does. Ive been taking it easy and not doing any hard accel in first since it started. It has 177k miles on it, its been a few years since ive done a flush. I just replaced the filter and filled with fresh fluid. There wasn't a lot of dust in the pan and no hard material. Fluid was brown but not burnt. Doesn't really seemed to help all that much.

Ive also had the occasional hard shift on all gears, but it may do that once a year or every 2 years. Id just shut the car off and restart and I would not experience it anymore for a long time, but since the lazy shift has started it has become more prone to doing it. You can feel the shift thru out the whole car.

Id like to get another year or two outta the trans before I decide to go buy another car. Am I about due for a replacement trans? I have found a 60k mile unit locally for $500, but is there something else that can be done? Will fresh shift solenoids fix this issue? Thanks

If you installed a shift kit when you changed the filter/fluid it would likely have "fixed" the issue for a long while.

I'd guess that it's tossed a transmission related DTC in the past and may be one in the history still, nearly all transmission codes don't set the SES light. Buying the transgo shift kit would still be a good suggestion to try and correct the small issues you are having.

I just ordered a transgo kit to install later in the week. Checked the codes and I had code 1811. I see from some searching this code is more related to the hard shift and people will toss in a pressure control solenoid. Im assuming to do that it will at the least require subframe removal and side cover removal to do ? thanks

I'd be concerned that only the 1-2 is slow, sounds not like a pcs issue to me. Maybe you'll find something wrong in the accumulator, I guess that's the best case scenario.

Transgo kit will bandaid your p1811...that's why the Transgo kit was released. It deals directly with the lazy 1-2 in this case. I generally just bite the bullet and buy a used 4t65 from a Rendezvous.

It helped a little, seems fine at times. Also added a bottle of lucas with it. Was sorta expecting a firmer shift on 2-3 as well but doesn't really feel different. Feels more noticeable on a down shift.

Hope it lasts awhile, thanks
