l67 swap into '02 GT

I'm not sure if this is the correct place to post this but here it is:

So I have already looked into top swapping or the zzp supercharger kit and after seeing how much that kit cost and deciding that I would like to keep the factory l36 around it seems the only option i've got is to swap an l67 into the car. So I need the following questions answered.

1. What is everything I will need to do the swap (I literally mean everything to have it drop right in) and how much should I expect to spend?

2. Will the motor bolt right up to my transmission?

3. Can I pull the motor out of any car that came with it? and,

4. Should I pick up an HD trans as well? (my transmission seems to be in perfect shape and i'm not planning on going crazy with horsepower and torque)

you could just find a used turbo kit depending on your power wants/needs. but a turbo almost always means your gonna need a built tranny.

top swap dont cost much if you get the parts from a junk yard, or used from a member here when they pop up for sale.

if you wanted to just drop a sc engine in there you would want the hd tranny, so drop then in together. if you cant find a tranny it will bolt up to yours in the car now.

and if you find a engine tranny combo take its pcm and wire harness with it.you gonna use it all. if not there go find those parts at the junk yard.

1. Search, it's been covered a lot.

2. Yes, but you'll need to replace the L67 flexplate with the one currently on your L36, you'll also need new hardware to bolt the flexplate on (zzp has the ARP hardware, clean the oil off, and use red loctite on them)

3. You can, but try to get it from a GP if possible, less brackets and accessory crap you have to try and find/swap later on.

4. HD trans isn't a necessity, you can upgrade your non-HD to an HD for pretty cheap (diff, cover, pass. axle, and output shaft), but the things that break when they do break usually have nothing to do with whether the trans was an HD or not. If you drive like a half normal person, your trans will live a while.

Thanks, I'll be going to the local junk yards soon and see what they have.

Just did this after breaking a connecting rod.
Here's my list
SC cylinder heads, l67 throttle body, pcm, wire harness, tranny highly recommend. Intake manifold, m90, gaskets for lim and upper. Gtp fuel injectors. I'm sure I'm missing something. Get it all from a gtp at the junk shack.

There are too many variables to simply list out everything you need w/o knowing what you might buy the engine out of.

If you get it from a non w body, then you'll swap exhaust manifolds as well.
If it comes from a car w/o straight up coolant ports on the tensioner or if the tensioner is missing, then you'd have to swap yours.
If the flex is dual drilled, then you won't have to swap it
If the year is a 96 you have a vacuum tree by the TB and an extra vacuum port on the tb
If the year is 97 then you have only the vacuum tree

See what I'm getting at. There are a bunch of things to consider, all are easy to swap/fix. Find your donor and then we can tell you what you need to swap...right down to the last bolt.

Thanks, after going to the junkyard I've decided to just top swap my motor from parts out of a buick regal gs.
