Felpro aluminum gaskets are the best.
And brake cleaner or soak it in some simple green/purple power to clean the intake manifold.
Since you have the L36 manifold.. have you considered plugging the coolant ports or replacing the manifold? It's a common failure point.

You had asked about cleaning the manifold and I thought you might be cleaning the upper intake manifold. If that's the case, I'd suggest plugging the ports suggested in that thread, because the EGR runs between two coolant ports in the upper manifold and over time the heat will crack the manifold and allow the coolant to dump into your engine.
