L26 Lifters and Flexplate in L67?

Can anyone tell me if the L26 Lifters and L26 Flexplate would work in my L67. I have a 245mm TC for the transmission so I need a Flexplate that is drilled accordingly so Im fairly certain that the flexplate would work.

The lifters I had nearly decided not to replace, but a set came up that is super low miles, practically brand new for a price I cant really pass up, but I need to know for certain that they will work in a L67 engine.

I would like to know something by this evening if at all possible so I can pay the guy and secure the parts. I have to leave out of here shortly to take care of a few things and probably wont be back until this evening. So if you guys/gals can give me some solid info I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks in advance.

Lifters are fine, but have to see a pic of the flexplate. Yes, it will work...but it may be weaker. After 2005-2006 they switched to a dual pattern flexplate. If that is the one you have it's fine, if it's the weaker one, you'll be better off drilling the holes in your old flexplate for the new TC.

Ahh, okay, thanks Ron. So if I understand you correctly, if I find a 2005-2006 flexplate it is already drilled for both sizes? Is that in both supercharged and N/A versions of the engine?

Alright, I just got confirmation that the parts Im wanting to buy are from a 2005 12,000 Mile L26. So Im assuming based on the above info provided by Ron I should be good to go on those?

that's what I read of it.... and if for some wierd reason, it's not the best flexplate for your application, i'm sure someone on here would need it, so you could sell it.

... or use it as a frisbee......

:D

i love my l26!!!

i used the l26 lifters, rockers, and pushrods, and aluminum oil pan. i did not like the way that they use the oil pan for the engine mount, so i did a little modification to the pan so i could reuse my l67 mount and the aluminum pan. well, actually my buddy did it.

i used the l67 flex plate, but i had to open the holes ever so slightly

i also used the l26 front cover, and my idle oil psi went up from 37, to 55 wot from 60 to almost 80

Dont you need the aluminum cradle to use the aluminum oil pan? What modification did you have done to yours to keep the oil pan from being part of the mount? Pictures?

I would consider the front cover, but I already have one that has a pretty new front main seal, so I'll stick with that. Im already pushing about 55- 60 psi at idle anyway, and about 75 at WOT so I should be good there.

I also have a 2005 flexplate coming that is dual drilled so I should be good to go there, but I am definitely interested the oil pan and the modification you did.

i may be able to get some pictures of it, but i am not promising anything.

we had the motor on a stand, upside down, and we just would lay the stock bracket on the engine, then dremel a little bit off the pan, then check again. the area that we were shaving was solid, no oil anywhere around it. i think we had to take a little bit of the L off the bracket too.

i have put 5k on that setup with no issue.

You realize you are making me spend more money cause now I want an aluminum cradle and an aluminum oil pan. Do you know how cold it is out in the dog house?

an alum cradle would be sweet, but i dont feel the benefits outweigh the cost and pita install. i also dont believe that stock l67 control arms will bolt up. you either need 04+ or impala

there goes someone raining on my parade again. I swear Im going to break out the ban stick. LOL

Are you saying that I would need 04+ GP control arms? If so, I may pass because Im kinda interested in buying a set of tubular Control arms when/if they ever release them.

im not 100% but i know that i have herd that it is not a DIRECT replacement, as other parts are nessicary.

i know that the control arms on a 97-03 are different then the 04+, so if you are using an 04+ cradel, you WILL need 04+ control arms.

i am not sure about using an impala cradel though. the stock control arms may bolt right up, but im not sure

Thats cool. If I get some facts that state I can use the cradle without having to do something to the LCA's then I'll put it on the project list, until then I'll just keep researching.

Control arms are the same. The only difference is the bushings in the LCA's (04+ have aluminum inserts instead of steel in the bushings). However the 04+ replacement bushings is the same PN as the 97-03. Impala and Monte's LCA's still have the sway bar tab on them, GP's use the direct acting sway, so no tab.

So Ron, what am I looking at here? What car do I need to get the cradle from? As for the LCA's, I would just need the new bushings, correct? What would I need to do in order to make the swaybar work, drill holes, get Impala or Monte LCA's?

as far as i know, you can keep your current LCA's. if you cant/dont want to, then get the LCA's for the impala/MC. the alum cradle is typically easiest found in the impala. dont know what shipping on that beast would be but there was one for sale on the local board here awhile ago, not sure if it is still up for grabs or not.
