Known issues with 98 GTP's?

Greetings,

Just looking to learn more about my 98 GTP.

What were some of the common problems with this year?

Just want to make sure that I know what to look out for if there are any problems creeping up on me.

Issues like: Tranny goes at 120k, Detonation problems over certain mileage or lean conditions etc.

I dont drive it too hard, but I would rather know about a problematic part now and get it fixed before it causes more headaches down the road.

Engine Significant Problems Occasional problems with this vehicle are failures of the Fuel Pump Resistor, 3.8L vin 1 supercharged engine only, the Upper and Lower Intake Manifold, 3.8L vin K engine only, the Fuel Injectors, 3.1L vin M engine only, and a periodic problem is failure of the Camshaft, 3.1L vin M engines only. Failure of the Fuel Pump Resistor will prevent the vehicle from starting.

Transmission & Driveline Moderate Problems An occasional problem with this vehicle is failure of the Transmission Pressure Control Solenoid (PCS). Failure of the Transmission PCS is identified in TSB # 00-07-30-002B.

Starting & Charging Moderate Problems An occasional problem with this vehicle is failure of the Ignition Switch.

Accessories Moderate Problems An occasional problem with this vehicle is failure of the Wiper Motor Crank Arm Assembly.

I have a '98 and it is perfect. :th_winking: But really, I don't think I have heard of any problems specific to '98s. Seems most of the issues we deal with apply to most of the '97-'03 years.
