Keys STUCK in Ignition

I am in need of some help all of a sudden my keys wont come out of ignition, Although my mothers car which is a 2002 Grand Prix SE I have the same exact car also has had the same issue for a long time now so she just carries a nail around with her in the car to stick in the whole under the steering wheel/ignition/key area. I have been doing it this way for the time being but Im praying someone has had this problem before or knows what I can do to fix it so I dont have to take my keys out with a dang nail ughhh irritating....

quick fix: take off the steering wheel covers, ziptie the plunger down on the solenoid [the one you've been pressing with the nail to get the keys out]. or you could find something cylindrical to leave in the access hole.

Alright thanks maybe I'll let my mechanic know this so he can just do it lol But thanks just wondered if anyone had a simple fix.

If you are still experiencing this problem I developed a simple repair that won't leave a zip tie inside your steering column.
