Key won't turn

This is kinda wierd, and its not a huge deal, but my 2000 3.8 GP only likes the ignition key a certain way. I can put the key in all the way, and it won't turn, I have to pull it out and turn it 180 degrees stick it back in and then it will turn. Took it to have new tires put on it and the guy had to get me to start it for him. I guess it's a good antitheft device, but it's starting to become a hassle. Any ideas what it could be?

could be an old key, getting worn down.It happened to me before.or it could be slightly bent.Thats 2 common things it could be.

That's what I was going to suggest. Over the years of using a key one certain way will wear down the theeth on the key. Thus, not pushing the tumblers in the ignition like they are suppose to be. I went to the dealer and got a new key for 5 bucks. try that and see if it solves your problem.

I know this is a some what of a old post, but there is a key release lock on the lower part of your steering column that tend to act up so to speak and it will not let you turn you ign, so if the new keys did not work you can disconnect or replace the lock and this should fix your problem.
