key stuck in ignition 2002 grand prix

this is the latest of electrical problems with this car. I finally removed solenoid from the steering column not as easy as described to get it out.once i removed it the key came out of the ignition every time. I took the part to a few auto parts places and know one seemed to know what it was.I tried researching it under part# 26056147 with no luck. does anyone know if this part has a name or gm part # or if you need to even have to replace it ?
