Key Fob programming

Anyone have any experience using scanners that will program new key fobs? Both my 2004 and 2008 Grand Prix's are down to one fob. I would rather not go to the dealer, a locksmith coming out to do both is an option but if there is a scanner that would do it for a couple hundred bucks I would consider that also. I already purchase new fobs for both off eBay. Any thoughts or suggestions is appreciated. Thanks

This doesn't answer your question, but I was just looking into this again just days ago, and I have settled on this as the answer...

"2005 Pontiac Grand Prix Keyless Entry Remote Fob Smart Key Programming InstructionsThere is no manual on board procedure to program a keyless remote to this vehicle. This
vehicle requires special equipment be connected to the vehicle to program the remote", BestKeys, Amazon.

I stopped by a local shop in town, the owner is a friend and he has a high end scanner. He was able to program one new remote, but was unable to do them all(lose the old when the new is programmed) . He is going to look into it. Should be able to do all, probably just a step we are missing. He was busy the day I stopped by, at least for now my remote is new with no cracked case.I will post back when I get it resolved

I've read ..."program them during the same programming cycle" and i.e. press the transmitter buttons, etc...

BTW, they have one with remote starting.
Also, I thought I read mentioning that the programmer only has three uses - that wasn't clear.
