That's what it is sounding like to me. I seems when the float is down beacause of no gas, it is grounding itself out somehow. Which thinking about it, probably isn't a good thing because most things I've seen ground out, usually throws a small spark and if that's the case, I wouldn't want any sparks in my fuel tank. You could pull the pump from the tank, hold the float up and get someone to replace the fuse. Lower the float and see if you hear some sort of pop from the pump when the fuse blows. If not, I'd start tracing wires back and give them a good inspection. It could even be something on the gas guage side. When doing this, don't forget to turn you key on to get power to everything. Not to insult your inteligance, but you know there are some out there that wouldn't give it power. Let us know what you find.

i would start with replacing the whole fuel pump assembly , float and all. if that doesnt work i try a 25 amp fuse :th_laugh-lol2: j/k

You could go that route, but you'll have to pull it out either way. If it was me, I'd rather do what I could to test it before I spent the money on a new on and not fix my problem. Money wasted. That's just my 0.02.
