K&n for grand prix gtp?!?

I can't find a stock airbox to go into my 1997 grand prix that can get me to pass smog. So I am going to buy a k&n
To replace my cheapy after market intake.. Which sucks cause I know performance is the same I'm just paying for the CARB numbers basically.
Question is: they don't sell them for the 97-98 they sell for 99-up... the 99-2003 should fit? I may not be able to get the big fat heat shield in but it should fit right? Is there any change in connectors that the 99-2003 have that the 97 don't have? I'm assuming it's just the space issue which can be made to work??
If anyone can answer this I'd be appreciative and I'll love you forever!

Cool wonder what that cost oem is expensive!
I don't need it to fit perfectly I don't see how it wil not fit size wise other than the heat shield but I don't need that on.
So there shouldn't be any other extra connector ports on a newer intake that a 97 would need to plug in to? I think al I have in my current intake is the o2 that's it.

Everything is same intake wise when you bolt it up 97-03.

The coolant bottle on the 99-03's should be in any 3800 WBody car and you can get them at a junkyard for a few bucks tops.
