k&n cold air intke kit

Welcome and don't bother with it, its overpriced just make your own FWI. Or you could post in the wanted to buy section maybe one has one for sale cheap?

Check out automat's link in the vendor section. They make a intake for only 69.99. I personaly plan on getting one pretty soon.

Welcome to the forum. Wait and see if you come across a used one in the for sale section. Thats what I did.

Please don't buy the K&N unit...its cheap and overpriced.

And contrary to popular belief.... please don't make an PVC FWI. They look so damn cheesy!!! Do yourself a favor and spend a couple bucks and buy a NICE unit: check this one out:

its not always about looks. he could make an intake that performs just as good as that one with pvc pipe for what 20$$??

also i would still update the tubing on those. i have a wizair myself and well the tubing is kinda crap. the box is good but what the point of having cold air if the engine cant suck it in good enough.

after having my short ram intake, im almost a beliver that flow out weights cold air.

Welcome! X2 about the pvc pipe...if you know how to paint then you can make it look good.

This was mine on my gtp:

For just a plain color it doesnt look bad. Just make sure if you go that route, make sure you the time and prep it right. If you dont it will look like crap. Painting is 90% preping and 10% paint. The paint should last quite some time, depending on the quality of paint you use.

If he, or anyone at that matter is building a strictly racing machine I would agree with you...who cares about looks as long as it performs and makes the car go fast.

BUT......... 99% of the people who mod their GP's are going to be lifting that hood to show off one time or another. Who the hell wants a nasty piece of PVC sitting there?? To each is his own, but I think it looks cheap and un-finished.

Boger: You on the other hand did a DIY job CORRECTLY! You took the time to get it right, prep and paint it, and it looks great! I'm not saying all PVC DIY intakes are cheap, I'm saying the ones that look like PVC are cheap.

Personaly im not in it for show, im in it for go. Since I got my GP about 6 months ago I have opened the hood twice and that was for oil changes. I want to go the cheap route.

bogger had a nasty peice of pvc pipe........ that he painted and now it looks great!!! and for what?? about 25 bucks?? case rested.

At the moment ive got the pvc look, but havent found the shade of red I want to go with. Before I hit the track and open the hood.... the PVC, Dogbones and Side-struts WILL be prep'd and painted lol.

Mine didnt even cost that...I had some spare pvc laying around the shop, took a used cone filter off my old car and cleaned it up a lil. So my FWI was a free mod. The paint and sand paper cost less than $10.

welp there you go!!! you did a great job on the paint too!!!

im hoping to have my set up finished this weekend. im trying to run a nice tight fitting pvc set up into my wizair :D the stock tubing blows from wizair and just with the pvc clamped on there now i can tell its getting a better suction. ive got a short ram HAI right now right off the throttle body. it screams pretty loud too!! and on the nights that it gets pretty chilly (40 or below) that intake hits!!! but during the day when it gets mid 50's or hotter, it starts to kinda bog. thats why i want to get it in the box.

and dont get me wrong the box is great!!! i just would not pay 250+ dollars for something that you could easily do yourself. hell most people run fender wall intakes and put that roof thing on the pipe behind the filter and it blocks it off from the engine heat. works great. and i think thats 5$ or so. save yourself some money

Would you be willing to do a write up or post some suggestions for painting?
