• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Hey guys just bought a black 2004 grand prix gt, and after searching for some how to's i came across this great site. Been a member at clubgp for some time now (used to have a 2000 gtp but it caught on fire) same username here as i was there. No clue if anyone here is also on clubgp but I'd imagine so. Oh yeah and my name's Mark.

Hey Mark, how's it going? welcome to the forums. Glad to see you here. There are a few people on here from clubgp. I'm sure you'll meet up with them eventually. Sorry to hear about the GTP. Happy to see you have another GP though. Did you find out what made it catch fire? Might end up being some good info on here for others to watch out for.

Thanks for the welcoming guys.

I'll never know the true reason why it caught on fire cause it was so burned up, but the insurance investigator figured it was the due to the same reasons the recall stated, and that it was the dealers fault because the car burned up less than a week after I had the recall done. He said the people who worked on it probably replaced the gaskets, but didn't clean out the oil that was already starting to pool. And something they did caused it to ignite, cause i drover the car with no problems what so ever for a little over a year, then i have the recall done and it catches on fire.

As for a word of warning, just make sure the dealer does everything they're supposed to do, or do it yourself if you have the skills. And maybe consider carying a fire extinguisher around lol, a big one though, the one i used didn't do crap. And never use Colma Buick Pontiac dealership to have any work done if you're ever in the bay area.

Oh yeah here's a video I took while the firefighters ripped her apart :th_crying1:

Man that video is saddening. I thought you telling us was bad, but to see footage of it. All I can say is WOW!!!
