Yesterday was on Craigslist and saw a 1998 grand prix gtp coupe with 160k on the dash. Only problems it has is leaking a little oil from the intake and needs a passenger side window motor I believe haven't looked into it too much and has a few scratches and things here and there but I paid 1700 and I believe that's a great price for how nice the red paint looks not faded at all well at least not faded to the point of it looking pink like some grand prix cars I've seen. I've been a member for a while and have had a total of 4 grand prixs and one park avenue and a regal all 3.8 this is my first supercharged so hope you guys believe it was a good investment and a steal.

Only thing I have done is the sequence turnsignal light mod.
And put a double din in there.

Also what it's this switch when I turn it on it says perf shift?

welcome neighbor ...how are the strut towers and rockers? looks can be deceiving lol and perf shift basically puts more pressure on the trans lines and u get a firmer shift.

oil in the intakes not a good thing. check the pcv valve to see if its clogged up. its under the black cap on the top of the super charger.

the perf **** button should be in the shiftier knob. so maybe the last owner changed it and put the button on the console?

and perf shift makes the tranny shift at a slightly higher rpm, and faster. vs when not on.

over all not to bad for the price as long as the engines not messed up.

looks like it just need a good buffing and the tails tinted to hide the ugly going on there. maybe some window tint too.

Yeah maybe it's not the intake. I'm not sure but it's a drip every few hours. Strut towers are near perfect. Rockers are great. Thanks there is a button missing in the shift knob so yeah that's it. Tinting the tails I've done to all my cars so yeah this one will be getting tinted tails. Clear corners. Led upgrade and hid headlights. 45% tinted windshield and 35 all around the rest.

That could be the valve cover gaskets, take it to GM and see if the recall has been done on it, or just replace them yourself. I think GM does recall work for free but I'm not 100% certain on that. They did my cat for free because of the recall I just had to pay $10 for shop supplies or something.

Stock.
And I think he meant exhaust gaskets but those rarely ever go bad. I used my stock ones off my 97 gtp and they have over 200k miles on them.

My car has yet another twin! Nice, their still coming down in price but $1700 is not bad. I paid $1800 with 40k less miles and substantial cosmetic damage. That was 4 years ago though when it was still a challange to find one that ran for less than $2500. Looks clean over all

Okay guys thanks a lot. And as for mods.? Bolt ons or something. Want it to sound mean but not ricey. And the guy that I bought it from gave me the gtp badges. Re badge or keep debadged

Hey guys just finished putting in the sound system.

Rockford Fosgate Power t1000.1bd
And 2 12" alpine type r the new black models.
With a 50 farad capacitor and the Audio Control epicenter. Any creative ideas for the mounting of the bass knobs?

Underneath the stereo isn't there some space. Somewhere were they can be easily reached. And stock exhaust is really the only thing that won't sound ricey or borla xs muffs
