• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Jerry's Tuner Notebook -> Wikified

I am in the process of putting Jerry's Tuner Notebook online in a Wiki format. The current site is paid for by my own $$$, but if the site gets traction, I will probably add Google ads to pay for the hosting/bandwidth.

I have uploaded up to Bin Preparation Stage 2. I would like help with the rest of the manual. Keeping the manual close to it's current format is a requirement. I would like to add screenshots and specific instructions for the HPT as well, making it a "universal" notebook.

Feel free to help out, registration and editing is open to anyone. I will eventually have to add administrators and such, but for now, it is wide open.

Main Page - OpenTuner Notebook

Feel free to let me know of any problems you encounter, this is a brand new setup.

Shawn

P.S. I wonder if I can post this on ClubXX???

I'd be glad to help out. I don't have a copy of the notebook though. If you can get me a copy I can help put it online. I've got HPT so I can post screenshots as necessary also.

awesome, do you want to designate a part for me to include or should I just pick a section and start adding it?

Pick a section and go. I am still configuring the site, so that should keep me busy for a bit.

Just follow the lead in the PDF and go. That is the beauty of Wiki, anyone can edit, so get something started, and let the "community" modify it as needed.

I stickied this for now to give it some exposure and hopefully build on a grow in a positive way the work that Jerry has done. To say nothing of the work and effort being put into getting a Wiki put up.

I will say this and everyone involved with the Wiki can ponder it and take it for what it is worth. I have grown to really hate Wiki's. They are wonderful ideas but they have a major failing, you cant download the information. This is why our How To section will have downloadable documents.

I see you have the .pdf file there and that is awesome, but I beg of you to please keep the whole thing in some type of downloadable format. I hate going to most wiki's where you have click on the link, print the page, click 'next', move to the next page, print the page, and keep on going. On Wikis that may only have a few pages of information, thats fine, but on something that has 10's of or 100's of, I just want to strangle someone when they dont have a way to download the information in a document or pdf.

Thanks for the sticky. I also hate Wiki's because they are so "online" only, but I found a solution.

In addition to the PDF file on the site, I have installed a tool called PDFBook, which allows the whole category to be downloaded as a pdf file.

Using multiple categories and sorting criteria, it can be downloaded in order. For an example check out:

Category:PowrTunerBook - OpenTuner Notebook

and click on the top link that says:
"Download this selection of articles as a PDF book"

There is a lot of work to do and some tweaking to make sure all the images show up, but I think that is what you were looking for.

I think you guys will be my heros. That should work perfectly. Them being so 'online only' is exactly what I dislike about them. I mean, if Im working on my car and following a How To, I dont want to have to drag my laptop around with me and keep clicking through pages to follow the thing.

Crap, give me a nicely formatted print out and call it good. I'll recycle if thats bothering the environmentalist, LOL.

Yea... I kinda got into it.

Added:
Tuning Your VE Table
Tuning Your MAF Table
Tuning Your O2s
Tuning Your Timing Tables
Tuning Your Tranny Tables
Tuning For Mileage
Tuning Hints

I'd like to go back and add screen shots of HPTuners software but I've got an 05 so it may be a little different. Think it would matter? Or I suppose I may be able to find a stock 99 .hpt file on their website too. Either way, it'll wait until tomorrow.

Just do whichever one you feel comfortable with. Once it is there, others can change it to reflect the differences. In addition, the "Discussion" tab at the top can be used to talk about the changes to the page, much like we would do with these forums.

Excellent work.

You guys doing this wiki really signify what this community is about. Coming together on a project, working together on a common goal. My hats off to you all.

I cant speak for Jerry directly but based on the things I have heard him say and his intentions for the Tuner Notebook, I think he would be proud of you all as well, particularly if the information is advanced and built upon which it seems that is the aim each of you have.

So to that I say thank you for doing what you are doing and keep up the good work.

I can send you a stock 99 GTP hpt file if you need one.

Got it, thanks.

And the first thing you will notice, the max value for RPM vs ECT is 1200...which won't match the settings for Jerry's tune.

Not a huge deal, because most tunes won't have an XP cam and need a higher RPM, but still....

You will also find that some of the newer (2002) binfiles have extra options for A/C on and off too. I guess we have LOTS of work ahead to support both tuners.
