• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

I ran car for 5 - 10 min to get it to operating temperture,
Did compression test 3x on each cylinder and here are the results
#1: 155 -150 - 150psi
#2: 150 - 150 - 150psi
#3: 80 - 80 - 80psi (sh@t-f%ck)
#4: 160 - 160 - 160psi
#5: 170 - 170 - 170psi
#6: 180 - 175 - 175psi
Looks like hg or head right?:th_thumb-down:

Yeah. Maybe when you take it apart you might even find a chipped piston.

Sounds like hg or piston. Cost me $1056 for two new hgs, uim gasket, lim gasket, head studs, em gaskets, vc gaskets, coolant flush, water pump, thermostat, plugs, and wires. Of course, that was paying a shop to do it of course. You could do a coolant system leakdown test to try and cancel out a bad piston and/or verify its just the hg.

Thanks bud,

I got the scaneer, and it read as follows:
1 of 2 -
code P0303, and undernieth code it says Cyldinder #3 Misfire

2 of 2- (Same)
code P0303, and undernieth code it says Cyldinder #3 Misfire,

Why did it say the same code twice? Is it because of two different problems that caused the P0303 Code
Thanks

the first is a pending code, second is a code currently set in the computer (AKA there has been a misfire problem in the past and it is also currently misfiring

I wonder If I can sue the b***h for 2000 half of what I bought the 97 grand prix for.
She must of known there was a misfire due to a bad head gasket or something, cause when I got the scanner that was the first time ses light came on, since I bought the car for 4000.

unless you can prove that there had been previous codes stored in that car with that same cyl 3 misfire, and that they knew and cleared it intentionally, and that they knew there was internal damage and 100% mislead you to thinking there was nothing wrong with this car and the previous owner is a master mechanic and has been through the engine and its perfect with no issues at all or any trouble codes of any kind....your wasting your time. Basically it would come down to a battle of if they knew before, and if the car ran fine with no knocks or intentional coverups (ie 15w40 oil in it) then it will go no where fast. Thats a very fine subject that normally favors the seller no matter what. Your best bet is to pick up a used L36 for 400 to 600 and chock up your pride, and mod in the process. My sis is a Paralegal and i've been through this same thing in the past man...and i'm sorry

Thanks man, your the second person to advise me to get another used engine, so I think thats what I will do. And thanks for the legal advice also.

it sucks but you have to prove so much its just not worth it. Check out http://www.car-part.com, it searches junkyards all over the country or local in your area and compares pricing, its freakin awesome! Also i know the member Kfish just became a vendor and gets ahold of a lot of used parts with good pricing, so send him a pm and he can probably help you track a deal down.
