The short answer is you would want an FSM or other source for that. Without knowing how far you plan to go, keep in mind if this has an issue and you need to tear it totally apart, you want a machine shop to go through it for you.
 
In the end, a used JY motor is your best & cheapest bet if this rebuild is anything but a race setup imo.
 
Yup a jy engine should cost you at the most $500, rebuilding a 3800 would cost you at the least $800 just for machine work, then figure in $200-$400 for bearings, gaskets, fluids and other misc stuff.
