Is Sunroof the same 97-03?

Hi Everyone,

Well my sunroof leaks it won't close completely and won't open either. The motor turns but sounds like the gears are not engaging. I have not dropped the headliner to look further at it. I have seen several cars at the junkyard with sunroofs but not for my year and noticed the sunshades are different. Does anyone know if the whole assembly is the same and which will work for a 2000 GTP. The junkyard want $55 for the whole assembly w/motor.

yes they are, fwiw im using an 04' monte carlo sunroof. The sun shade that has those slits in it will be harder to push open and close due to the clearances for the trim ring that goes on the headliner. When i disected my old 99 style sunroof I came to the conclusion the sunroofs with the slits in it are a better design. Install isn't too bad, remove headliner, sunroof switch, pillars, oh **** handles, then you can get to the (if memoery serves) 6 small bolts.

p.s- your going to have to use your old electrical box (black rectangular in shape and has a white label on it) the harnesses that connect to the little electrical box might be different.
