• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Is something wrong?

So, a couple years ago, I started rebuilding the transmission on my 99 GT. So I think it's all done now, getting ready to put it back in the car, and it occurs to me that I can turn the drivetrain. Then I start getting paranoid that maybe I shouldn't be able to do that.

So to ease my mind, or to confirm my paranoia..... Should I be able to turn the drivetrain by hand, and it doesn't matter which gear I put it in at this point.

NOTES: Transmission is still out of the car, no oil.

It's more the output, I can turn the input shaft (where the torque converter goes) but it's not easy. I can turn the shaft inside where the output is and that turns pretty easily. Sorry, I don't know if I'm using the proper terminology.

Thanks.

That's perfectly fine..just needed some clarification.

sounds like you are on the driverside, turning the shaft that barely sticks out of the motor. This is normal. That is the output shaft. When you turn that..the other end (inside the diff cover) should also be turning the opposite way.

Thanks for the feedback. Just got paranoid there for a minute, this project has taken a very long time, and my lack of experience with transmissions and active imagination was getting to me. Thanks for the info.
