Is it knock?

Hey guys. I just got a new job which requires me to drive up and down a lot of hills. I've noticed a weird ticking sound when I'm going up steeper hills, but when the car is at very low rpm's. If I go up a steep hill, the rpm's drop and I'm puttin in 4th, I hear a weird ticking noise unless I let off.

I've tried keeping the rpm's up when driving up the problem hills, and it seems to eliminate the noise. I'm still curious to know if anyone has an idea of what this could be though.

I had the same thing, Turned out to be egr. You can try to unplug it( you'll prob get a code) and see if it goes away. Code should go away after plugging it back in.

had the same thing tured out to be an exhaust leak egr was to blame

check your exhaust system.. any flanges stuff like that

Hills increase the chance of knock. Scan it while you drive for the real answer.

haha trust me I've been asking! just installed the DP and ordered a plog so a tune is definitely in order
